In March 2007, the KORUS FTA, the Free Trade Agreement between Republic of Korea and the United States has been contracted. Through numerous negotiations, the two nations were able to reach the resolution in order to open each of one's market to another. This trade liberalization has a great importance to me. To be more specific, it can provide me two significant opportunities: chances to realize my business philosophy and to show my proficiency to the world.
To begin with, the KORUS FTA would actualize my personal philosophy. Ever since I decided to become a trader, I have built a business ideology of my own. That is, I am a person who believes that economic liberalization results in economic stability of a country. The KORUS FTA demands each nation to lower the trade barriers and within 8 years, both countries should completely eliminate the restrictions on sectors in concern. Through breaking down trade barriers such as tariffs and quotas, South Korea would be able to compete over the US companies and reach increase in quality of products and competitiveness. Furthermore, in doing so, the role of trade industry would be crucial. Hence, the KORUS FTA greatly affects me, for it can initiate my country's path to the open market and give me the opportunity to lead the flow.
Next, not only my business philosophy, but also my talent as a global leader can be visualized through the free trade. The United States is a place where overseas interactions are frequently made and various ethnicities take place. Therefore, to survive in this vast market, a capable CEO(Chief Executive Officer) should exist. A capable entrepreneur I am referring to here is a person who acknowledges the way to advertise in order to obtain a contract, owns negotiation skills to make an agreement so that the company could benefit the most, and can provide a trust to the opponent contracting party to keep up a positive relationship and continue on the business deal. I am strongly confident in declaring myself as a epitome of such competent entrepreneur. Thus, the KORUS FTA is a critical occasion to display my aptitude as a global leader.
In conclusion, the KORUS FTA's significance does not stop at its existence. Rather, it is an inauguration of South Korea's open market to the world. After contracting the KORUS FTA, additional FTAs such as the agreement with EU(European Union) and China were suggested to the ROK government. This distinguishes the KORUS FTA in that it is an infinite opportunity to demonstrate my vision and capability.
